About Us

Established officially in 2023, Florida Explorers was initially envisioned in 2020 by two young children who wanted to create a homeschool group. Drawing from her background in child development and inspired by her kids, Melissa Hernandez took the initiative to establish a distinctive cooperative. As a family, they had explored various educational opportunities but struggled to find the perfect fit. They sought a supportive community open to new ideas, well-organized field experiences, and hands-on learning with depth. They also desired flexibility without a rigid schedule. Melissa aimed for a curriculum-aligned community offering structured courses that could be tailored to each child's pace and level. While other schools or cooperatives excelled in specific areas, they lacked balance. Thus, with a name chosen by her children, The Florida Explorers began its journey to create a unique cooperative. 

Florida Explorers association primarily consists of homeschooling families, although traditionally schooled families are also welcome to join and often do.  Our goal is to become a community-driven premier option for hands-on learning experiences. We aspire to offer a distinctive and tailored educational journey for every child we encounter.
